The Initiation of Force (Nonaggression axiom) and Private Property

The cornerstone of radical libertarian thinking is the idea that private property does not initiate force. Consequently, the radical libertarian believes that he or she can simultaneously believe in private property while opposing the initiation of force. But since private property does in fact initiate force, radical libertarianism must either be rejected or at least be grounded on some other principle.

I don't adhere to this mystical "Non Initiation of Force" (Nonagression axiom).

Until capital "L" Libertarians come to understand that the vast majority of Americans don't either, political progress will be impossible for the LP.

The American people want solutions to problems, not philosophical proofs.

Most Americans don't understand what the non-aggression principle (axiom) means. Our job, if we want liberty, is to teach them what it means. Ryan, you would do well to find out what it really means. Modlib has it wrong. Just like guns can't kill people all by themselves, property can't initiate force. Only people can initiate force against other people or their property.

Shem is right. Simply owning something does not initiate force.

The argument that private property is the root of force is as moronic as the argument that language is the source of hate-speech.
