Deal-Breakers

LP members tend to believe certain things which to the voters are deal-breakers:
1. No individual can be forced to pay a tax.
2. No individual can be forced to obey a law that he believes "initiates force" against him
3. The U.S. Supreme Court is not the final arbiter of whether a law is constitutional; rather, the individual, acting alone, determines this.
4. The debts run up by the U.S. government should be repudiated; people cannot be taxed to pay off the national debt.
5. The government represents no one; hence, no individual is responsible for the damages inflicted on others by the government.
These beliefs constitute anarchism, and since the average voter disapproves of this, the LP never gained any popularity, even among people favoring smaller government.

Agreed, though on Point #3, if the average person simply doesn't obey the law as they see it to be constitutional, and everyone consistently breaks that law, then the Supreme Court has no power. There is some truth in that.

Hey,

I'm a 16 year-old libertarian Republican in NJ. Although I have thought about it and will give it more thought, I do not plan on joining the Libertarian Party for its acceptance of Anarcho-Capitalists into the party, who I view as dangerous. I want libertarianism in the sense of that proposed by Thomas Jefferson, Barry Goldwater, and Ron Paul.

I'm not sure what your definition of extremism is, but check my blog out as I will also check out yours.

It's retro-republican.blogspot.com

Although relatively new I'll update about 1-2 times a week.

The first 2 posts are more ideological, as a basis before I get into actual policy and stuff.

Looking foward to more of your posts!
