Sentiments and Temperament

A moderate libertarian believes that life in the U.S. is not as good as it could be. A radical libertarian believes that life in the U.S. is awful. The voters will identify with the people whose sentiments and temperament most closely match theirs.

Funny. Along that line, I went in to the credit union some years ago to open an account for our local LP organization. The gal at the desk asked me what the Libertarian Party was about. I said something along the line of, "Working for the restoration of American Liberty...". She replied, "You don't think this country is free?".

She left me speechless. I was so used to talking to fellow LPers and bitching about one thing or another, I didn't know how to deal with what could be considered an average American voter who didn't have such strong feelings.
